Rehasher

Die beteiligten Musiker (u.a. Army Of Ponch-Leute) wissen definitiv, wie man catchige Punk-Smasher schreibt und Less Than Jake's Roger prägt durch seine markanten Vocals auch Rehasher.

Musicscan: Give our readers a short briefing about Rehasher at first, please. What do we HAVE to know aout the band?

Rehasher: ok, a long long time ago, i recorded this band called HOME TEAM,,geis and jake we're in hat band, anyways, we got along pretty umm kay, and eventually they moved to gainesville... many, many beers later, we started talking about redoing some of the songs, and some of the songs from my old band, too,,next thing you know, we were in the studio working on songs together, and having fun doing it..

Musicscan: What have been your first rehearsels like and how did you get the current Rehasher members together?

Rehasher: we had very few song ideas at first,, geis knew gui and he was the man for the bass playing slot,, gui is in another band in gainesville, called army of ponch,,,anyway, early on, we just joked around a lot, and talked about the kind of band we wanted to have,,basilly , fast , and catchy like the 90's punk we all love...

Musicscan: I'm interested in how you came up with the band's name, cause I think it can really sums up what the listener gets!?

Rehasher: yeah, many many nights i spent in full concentration,, staring at a blank sheet of paper,, waiting for a band name to hit me,,,i think it was about two weeks of thinking, for real.. i wanted the band name to be a palindrome, and rehasher is only one letter off,, and the whole idea that some of our first songs were remakes from bands we were in a long time ago...and also, it says "hash" in the middle, and that is an added bonus...

Musicscan: What's the idea behind Rehasher?

Rehasher: drink, play fast, sing hard, drink

Musicscan: Did you always had people who supported you right from the biginning?

Rehasher: well, all of our recording are done at my house, and for a while our only fan was JR, who was living with me at the time, and had no choice but to become or first fan....tony from no idea was the person who brought HOMETEAM to me to record, and also booked our first show at the FEST in gainesville, so, he sort of has a place in the history...

Musicscan: Do you guys feel that the debut record is a pretty good representation of bands sounding as of right now? Or did your sound already change after the recordings?

Rehasher: yeah, i think it's a good over all vibe of what the band is going for ... there is a style in there somewhere, and i think that our new songs are very much like the stuff on "offkey" maybe a little more metal....i dunno..you'll have to tell me,,,!!

Musicscan: When you were writing the songs did you have certain issues you specifically wanted to address? How did you go about writing your songs?

Rehasher: like i said , some songs are super old,,, some of the songs that i wrote for the band, we're meant to be songs for another band,, but then when i came up with some lyrics that i was into, those song's became rehasher songs , there are some songs that are very old songs that i wrote all by my lonesome, too, like "average"

Musicscan: what are your thoughts on how this punk/emo/hardcore underground-thing is getting more big-time these days?

Rehasher: i tend to not pay attention to the main stream, and same goes for the hasher band mates..i make music because i love it,, and i don't care about popularity and radio/mtv

Musicscan: Do you feel like having better chances today? maybe in comparism to your experiences with other bands/projects you have been involved into in the past...

Rehasher: humm, i don't know really what you mean by a better chance... it's the same chance, to hang out with friends and make music that gets us off..

Musicscan: Do you feel hardcore/punk is losing it's edge by having more and more bands with no real political or social stance? is "more rock, less talk" a real viable idea in the punk movement? It's now partly changing with punkvoter.com, but what's your overall view on it?

Rehasher: i've never been on to mix my music with my politics,, i think it is up to each band/artist to decide what they want to talk about,, whatever "edge" punk has or doesn't have, i don't think it's because of political content,, if anything, it's the mall-punks of our generation

Musicscan: What lessons have you learned from being involved with punk/hardcore? What has it done for you?

Rehasher: i haven't learned a damn thing,,, except to be myself... this band stuff is about music for me,, not the scene or the movement or anything but the songs....i am lucky that i'm able to express myself with music and that has done a lot for me keeping my sanity...

Musicscan: Are there any principles you would never give up to as a band? What kind of?

Rehasher: as a band, we won't play with out at least a case of free beer,,, that is vital,, also, we would always be thank full for anyone who comes to a show and suppports the band!

Musicscan: Many of todays bands seem to miss passion. Rehasher has lot of it and that's why i enjoy your record so much. Is it just a question of the right attitude? What do you miss within todays punk/hardcore music?

Rehasher: well, i think the subject matter of the lyrics are way personal, and they're is a sence of release when we play,,, alot of the stuff deals with finding happiness, getting over tough stuff, and overall making the best for yourself...

Musicscan: your biggest wish to happen for the band?

Rehasher: i just want rehasher to be listened to for what it is,,not just because we're in other bands,, but , ultimately, i just want us to keep having fun, and making songs we love,,

Musicscan: anything left you want to say?

Rehasher: thanks for checking out the hasher,,, ice down some tall, and roll up some cones, and we'll come over and rock!!!
