Musicscan: I can honestly say that Fireside is one of the very few bands that has never recorded the "same" album twice. This can be seen by your new album "Get Shot", which is again very different from your previous release "Elite". How come?
Fireside: We wanted to do something different and try to move forwards making music. But its not that its our purpose to make the next record different from the previous. It just happens. Another factor is that we had a producer on "Get Shot".
Musicscan: Does "Elite" seem like more of an experiment to you now in retrospect? Was it sort of an attempt to see how far you could push the songwriting while still remaining Fireside?
Musicscan: Does the band feel more like a project band to you now since you are all very busy and involved with in other musical projects besides Fireside?
Fireside: No. Fireside will always be in our hearts.
Musicscan: As I already mentioned, I think that "Get Shot" is again a lot more straight forward and song-oriented. Did you consciously approach the album differently this time?
Fireside: Yes. We wanted to make hits for little kids.
Musicscan: It seems like you are all very strong, though different musical characters. Isn't it hard sometimes to get all the individuals to work well with each other? Aren't there any musical or personal conflicts arising because of that? If yes, how do you usually solve those?
Fireside: No, not really. We agree most of the times we but when a problem occurs we just talk it out.
Musicscan: What are the best and worst aspects of being in Fireside?
Fireside: Best: Playing music, touring, recording and just have a jolly good time with jolly good people. Cheers big ears. Worst: Almost no spare time but that's compensated by the things mentioned above.
Musicscan: What artists (not necessarily limited to music) influenced you?
Fireside: Kate Moss, Joel RL Phelps, Elvis, Bill Drummond.
Musicscan: What would you be doing if you weren't into music? What are some of your other interests in life?
Fireside: A: Probably be working in a bar or screwing girls and doing drugs.
B: Fishing, collecting art, golf, football, ice hockey.
Musicscan: What is your opinion on the very likely war against Iraq? How do people in Sweden react to what is going on?
Fireside: Get over it, it's over. Happy X-mas, war is over (If you want it)... But Bush is baskerville and a basketcase. They went out on the streets demonstrating. We listen to the Streets.
Musicscan: Why don't you incorporate more politics in your songs? Do you feel it would pin you down or limit you as an artist? Or are you not interested in political aspects in relation to your art?
Fireside: If you listen closely to the lyrics in almost all good bands, there's a lot of politics incorporated. That includes us, but we are not politicians.
Musicscan: You are going to be on tour in Germany in May. Are there any more dates planned after that or is that going to be it for now?
Fireside: We're gonna do some festivals this summer.
Musicscan: 3 favorite records, books and movies?
Fireside: Calle: Chelsea Girl with Nico. The Manual by the KLF. Dawn of the Dead.
Frans: Catch 22. High noon. Nevermind with Nirvana.
Kristoffer: The day the country died with Subhumans. The Dirt Man on the moon.
Musicscan: Any last words or comments?
Fireside: Let's born to rock.
